Application Description

Maximus is the premier app for the game of international draughts, also known as 10x10 checkers, offering an unparalleled experience on tablets and smartphones. As the 2011 Dutch Open and Olympic computer draughts champion, Maximus is available for iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch. In 2012, Maximus challenged former draughts World Champion Alexander Schwarzman, resulting in a close match with five draws and one loss. More recently, Maximus competed in the (unofficial) world championship computer draughts in 2019, securing a commendable third place. While Maximus was running on a desktop computer, which is more powerful than a mobile device, you'll still find it to be a formidable opponent on your tablet or smartphone.

You don't need to be an expert to enjoy Maximus, as it offers various difficulty levels. Start with a level designed to help you learn the rules, where Maximus plays random moves. Then, progress through ten training levels, from beginner to expert, before challenging Maximus with more thinking time. Improve your skills by analyzing your games with Maximus and learning from your mistakes. You can also use the program as a travel draughts set, a notation booklet, or even in your draughts competition if you're one player short!
