CD Projekt Red, the team behind the game, took to The Witcher’s official Twitter (X) account on April 16 to alert the community about fraudulent invitations circulating online. These scams falsely claim to offer access to a beta test for *The Witcher 4*.
In their statement, CD Projekt Red emphasized their efforts to remove these deceptive messages and urged fans to report any suspicious invites using the tools provided by their email clients or social media platforms. The developers assured that any legitimate future beta tests would be announced first through The Witcher's official channels.

CD Projekt Red posted on The Witcher’s official Twitter (X) on April 16 that they received reports from the community that they are being invited to a beta test for The Witcher 4, which is a scam.
The post read, "We've been taking the necessary steps to take this fraudulent messaging down. That said, if you receive any invites to or stumble upon news of one, we kindly ask you to report the scam using the tools available to you in your email client or the social media platform you are using."
They added that if there were beta tests in the future, players would first hear about it on The Witcher’s official social media and websites.

The announcement of *The Witcher 4* came during the Game Awards in December 2024, accompanied by a trailer that introduced Ciri as the new protagonist. This shift from the series' long-standing hero, Geralt, sparked significant discussion among fans. In an interview with VGC, *The Witcher 4* Narrative Director Phillipp Weber addressed the community's reactions, acknowledging their attachment to Geralt while expressing confidence in Ciri's potential to bring fresh and engaging storylines to the series.
Weber stated, "The best thing that we can do, and I think this is really our goal, is to prove that with Ciri, we can do a lot of interesting things so we can really make it worth it because this decision to have Ciri as a protagonist wasn’t made yesterday, we started making this a very long time ago."
The Witcher 4 Executive Producer, Małgorzata Mitręga, also shared his appreciation for the fans' support and understanding of their choice to feature Ciri as the lead. He noted, "Everyone has the right to have an opinion, and we do believe it comes from the passion for our games and I think the best answer for that will be the game itself when the game is released."
CD Projekt Red aims to make *The Witcher 4* the most ambitious entry in the series, promising new regions and monsters.
