Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator's Global Server to Shut Down
Sad news for global players of Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator. Koei Tecmo and Akatsuki Games have announced the end of service (EOS) for the game's global version, effective March 28th, 2025. This comes just over a year after its January 2024 launch. The Japanese version, launched in September 2023, will continue operation.
The irony is striking: the global server's closure coincides with the Japanese server's 1.5th-anniversary celebrations. While Japanese players enjoy Chapter 22 (Part 2), global players will conclude their journey with Chapter 21 (Part 1).
In-game purchases are already disabled, but players can still utilize any remaining Lodestar Gems. Koei Tecmo promises continued events and content updates leading up to the shutdown. This announcement follows the game's first anniversary on January 25th, 2025.
Reasons for the Shutdown:
The developers cited an inability to maintain a satisfactory player experience as the reason for the closure. The game struggled to gain traction, with player complaints surfacing about the gacha system, gameplay mechanics, and aggressive monetization strategies, including significant power creep, appearing just months after launch. These factors ultimately led to the decision to shut down the global server.
Players wishing to bid farewell can still access the game on the Google Play Store. Meanwhile, other mobile gaming options remain available, such as the current Sky: Children of the Light Lunar New Year event.
