Exciting news for fans of the Avatar universe: Nickelodeon and Avatar Studios have officially announced a new animated series titled "Avatar: Seven Havens." This announcement comes as part of the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the beloved series, "Avatar: The Last Airbender." The series is being spearheaded by the original creators, Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, who are eager to expand the Avatarverse with this new addition.
"Avatar: Seven Havens" will be a 26-episode, 2D animated series that follows the journey of a young Earthbender, revealed to be the next Avatar after Korra. Set in a world torn apart by a devastating cataclysm, the narrative introduces a gripping twist: the new Avatar is seen not as a savior, but as a potential destroyer of humanity. This young Avatar, along with her long-lost twin, must navigate a perilous landscape, evading both human and spirit enemies, to uncover their mysterious origins and prevent the collapse of the Seven Havens, the last bastions of civilization.
In their statement, Konietzko and DiMartino expressed their enthusiasm for this new project, stating, "When we created the original series, we never imagined we’d still be expanding the world decades later. This new incarnation of the Avatarverse is full of fantasy, mystery, and a whole new cast of amazing characters."
The series will be divided into two seasons, each consisting of 13 episodes, titled Book 1 and Book 2. Alongside DiMartino and Konietzko, the series will be co-created with executive producers Ethan Spaulding and Sehaj Sethi. While the cast has yet to be announced, anticipation is already building for this new chapter in the Avatar saga.
"Avatar: Seven Havens" marks the first mainline TV series from Avatar Studios, which is also working on a full-length animated movie centered around an adult Aang. This movie is slated for a theatrical release on January 30, 2026, promising fans another thrilling adventure in the Avatar world.
As part of the 20th anniversary celebrations, Avatar Studios is also launching a range of new books, comics, concerts, toys, and a game on Roblox, ensuring that fans have plenty of ways to engage with the Avatar universe as it continues to grow and evolve.
