Black and White Kyurem Debut at Pokémon Go Tour: Unova Global Event

by Ryan Apr 17,2025

The legendary Pokémon Black Kyurem and White Kyurem are set to debut at the Pokémon Go Tour: Unova – Global, bringing exciting new Adventure Effects to enhance your gameplay. To maximize your experience, be sure to utilize the Tour Pass, which can significantly boost your earnings and unlock a variety of rewards.

Black Kyurem introduces Freeze Shock, an effect that lasts for 10 minutes and encases wild Pokémon in electrically charged ice, immobilizing them and making them easier to catch. On the other hand, White Kyurem's Ice Burn slows down the target ring during encounters, facilitating Excellent Throws. Both effects can be extended in 10-minute increments, up to two hours at a time, with a maximum total of 24 hours.

During the event, you can encounter Black Kyurem and White Kyurem in five-star raids and collect Fusion Energy. After fusing Zekrom or Reshiram with a Kyurem that knows Glaciate, Freeze Shock or Ice Burn will replace Glaciate. These moves revert back to Glaciate once the Pokémon are separated. Note that Kyurem cannot learn these moves through Charged TM or Elite Charged TM at the moment.

You'll have the choice between two event badges: Black Version (Reshiram) and White Version (Zekrom). With the Black Version, Kyurem encountered after defeating Black Kyurem will know Glaciate, and you'll receive Reshiram-themed Special Research rewards. The White Version grants Zekrom-themed Special Research rewards, with Kyurem encountered after defeating White Kyurem also knowing Glaciate.

To enhance your progression, leverage the Tour Pass, which not only unlocks rewards but also amplifies your Adventure Effects. Earn Tour Points by catching Pokémon, participating in raids, and hatching Eggs. Alternatively, accelerate your progress with quick Pass Tasks. Reaching Major Milestones will increase your Catch XP and extend the duration of Freeze Shock or Ice Burn.

For an even more enriched experience, consider upgrading to the Tour Pass Deluxe. This premium version offers an immediate encounter with Victini, additional event-themed encounters, an avatar item, and the new Lucky Trinket. The Lucky Trinket is a one-time-use item that allows you to become Lucky Friends with someone from your Friend List, enhancing your next trade.

The Pokémon Go Tour: Unova – Global event is scheduled from February 24th to March 2nd. Don't miss out on this opportunity to engage with these legendary Pokémon and take full advantage of all the event has to offer.
