The Rune Giant, a new Epic card in Clash Royale, is unlocked in the Jungle Arena (Arena 9) or obtained via a limited-time in-game shop offer (until January 17th, 2025). This guide explores the Rune Giant's capabilities and presents effective deck strategies.
Clash Royale Rune Giant Overview
The Rune Giant, an Epic card targeting enemy Towers and buildings, boasts 2803 Hitpoints (at tournament level) and medium movement speed. Its damage output (120 to buildings) surpasses the Ice Golem but falls short of the Giant. However, its unique strength lies in its Enchant effect: upon deployment, it enhances two nearby troops, boosting their damage with every third hit. This buffing capability makes it a powerful addition to specific deck combinations.
Costing only four elixirs, the Rune Giant is easily cycled. Fast-attacking troops like the Dart Goblin maximize its Enchant effect, while slower troops can leverage it strategically. The following video demonstrates a Hunter, empowered by the Rune Giant's Enchant, swiftly eliminating a Lava Hound before it reaches the Tower.
Despite its utility, the Rune Giant lacks the Hitpoints to function as a solo win condition like the Golem. It excels as a support troop, distracting enemies and absorbing tower damage while supporting offensive pushes.
Best Rune Giant Decks in Clash Royale
Here are some top-performing Rune Giant decks:
- Goblin Giant Cannon Cart
- Battle Ram 3M
- Hog EQ Firecracker
Detailed breakdowns follow.
Goblin Giant Cannon Cart
While the Goblin Giant Sparky deck remains viable, this variant incorporates the Cannon Cart for enhanced synergy with the Rune Giant.
Card Name
Elixir Cost
This beatdown deck boasts robust defense against various attack strategies. The Rune Giant ideally buffs the Cannon Cart and Goblin Giant (including its Spear Goblins). The Cannon Cart's durability allows significant damage to enemy troops and towers. The Elixir Collector, combined with the Lumberjack and Rage spell, provides additional Goblin Giant support. However, its limited air defense (Evo Bats) makes it vulnerable to Lava Hound decks. This deck utilizes the Royal Chef Tower Troop.
Battle Ram 3M
This deck reimagines the Three Musketeers, playing similarly to a Pekka Bridge Spam strategy.
Card Name
Elixir Cost
The Bandit, Royal Ghost, and Evo Battle Ram maintain early-game pressure, while the Elixir Collector builds an elixir advantage. The Three Musketeers are strategically deployed during Double Elixir. The Rune Giant and Hunter form a core defensive combo, with the Rune Giant tanking and the Hunter, enhanced by the Enchant, eliminating threats. Evo Zap supports Battle Ram pushes. This deck uses the Tower Princess Tower Troop.
Hog EQ Firecracker
This variation of the meta-defining Hog EQ Firecracker deck integrates the Rune Giant.
Card Name
Elixir Cost
Gameplay remains similar to the original deck, but the Rune Giant replaces the Valkyrie or Mighty Miner. The Rune Giant's Enchant significantly boosts the Firecracker's damage output. The Earthquake provides substantial late-game tower damage. Evo Skeletons offer effective defense. This deck utilizes the Tower Princess Tower Troop.
The Rune Giant introduces strategic depth to Clash Royale. Its buffing ability encourages experimentation with diverse card combinations. These decks serve as starting points; personalize them to match your playstyle.
