Following the releases of The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, several key figures from CD Projekt RED departed to pursue independent projects. One such venture is The Blood of Dawnwalker, developed by Rebel Wolves, a studio founded by a CD Projekt RED veteran.
Rebel Wolves recently revealed The Blood of Dawnwalker. Studio head Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz detailed his reasons for leaving CDPR:
He desired to explore new creative avenues with trusted colleagues, leading to the formation of Rebel Wolves. Their shared passion for RPGs and their history fueled a desire to innovate and expand upon established RPG conventions. Tomaszkiewicz explained that implementing their radical ideas would be challenging within the constraints of a large corporation, particularly when dealing with original intellectual property. This realization prompted them to establish their own studio to pursue their ambitious vision.
He acknowledged the inherent risks associated with their innovative approach. However, he contrasted the collaborative environment of a smaller studio with the complexities of larger organizations. He emphasized the streamlined communication and shared vision within Rebel Wolves, allowing for a more agile and creatively fulfilling development process. This close-knit team, he believes, fosters a stronger sense of creative energy and facilitates the creation of truly unique experiences.
