CD Projekt Red has announced that the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition requires 64GB of storage. While this is smaller than the 100–110GB needed on Xbox or PlayStation 5, it still occupies a substantial 25% of the Switch 2’s confirmed 256GB internal storage.
Releasing alongside the Switch 2 on June 5, Cyberpunk 2077 will be sold as a 64GB physical game card and as a digital download via the Nintendo eShop.
Nintendo also recently clarified that some new Switch 2 game cards will not include the full game—instead, they may only contain a download code. Cyberpunk 2077, however, will ship with the complete game on the cartridge.
This raises a key question: just how fast will the Switch 2’s internal storage be used up?
The Switch 2’s 256GB of built-in storage is a significant increase over the original Switch’s 32GB. Still, early indications show that Switch 2 games will be much larger in size.
As noted, Cyberpunk 2077 requires 64GB. In comparison, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom—one of the biggest Nintendo Switch titles—took up only 16GB. Upcoming releases for the Switch 2, including the $80 Mario Kart World, are also expected to demand significantly more space.
The natural answer is expandable storage. Like the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and the original Switch, the Switch 2 supports additional memory. But while the first Switch worked with standard microSD, microSDHC, and microSDXC cards, the Switch 2 relies exclusively on microSD Express. That means older microSD cards won’t be compatible, and users will have to purchase new—and notably more expensive—memory cards.

Some of these, however, are already selling quickly and listed as temporarily unavailable on Amazon.
Nintendo is also collaborating with SanDisk and Samsung on first-party memory cards. Based on past trends, these official versions are likely to carry a premium over comparable third-party alternatives. With growing interest in microSD Express thanks to the Switch 2, more manufacturers may enter the market—though whether that leads to lower prices is still uncertain.
