Days Gone Remastered $10 PS5 Upgrade Unavailable for PS Plus Redemptions

by Riley Mar 24,2025

During Sony’s recent State of Play showcase, the announcement of *Days Gone Remastered* sparked significant interest, but it also led to dissatisfaction among some PlayStation Plus subscribers due to its $10 upgrade policy. Sony has clarified that the $10 upgrade to the remastered version on PlayStation 5 is exclusively available to those who own the PlayStation 4 disc or a digital copy of *Days Gone*. Unfortunately, this means that players who redeemed the game through the PS Plus subscription service are not eligible for this discounted upgrade and would need to purchase the PS5 remaster at the full price of $49.99.

*Days Gone* was previously available through the now-discontinued PS Plus Collection and as an Essential monthly game in April 2021. The restriction on the upgrade has led to frustration among subscribers, prompting many to voice their concerns online. On the PlayStation Plus subreddit, numerous comments reflect the sentiment that while subscribers would have been willing to pay $10 for the upgrade, they are unwilling to pay full price for the remastered version.

Users like squarejellyfish_ pointed out that Sony could have potentially earned more revenue by allowing PS Plus subscribers to upgrade for $10, even if only for a brief trial. Similarly, teckn9ne79 expressed a willingness to pay the upgrade fee but not to purchase the game outright, while dredizzle99 criticized the decision as "pretty stupid," highlighting the missed opportunity for additional sales from the PS Plus community. Jackanyon95 went as far as to question the necessity of the remaster and refused to pay full price, emphasizing the potential extra revenue Sony could have generated with a more inclusive upgrade policy.

Despite the backlash, some PS Plus subscribers acknowledge that Sony's decision is likely driven by financial calculations, suggesting that the company believes this strategy will be more profitable in the long run. Nonetheless, Sony has faced criticism and been labeled "stingy" by some of its dedicated fans who were hoping for a more generous approach.

*Days Gone Remastered* was not the only highlight of the State of Play event. For a comprehensive overview of all the announcements, you can check out IGN’s State of Play February 2025 roundup.
