Hideo Kojima took to the stage at SXSW 2025 in Austin, TX this evening to unveil an enthralling new trailer for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, alongside the confirmation of its release date.
Death Stranding 2 is set to launch on June 26, 2025, exclusively on the PlayStation 5. However, those opting for the Digital Deluxe Edition or the Collector’s Edition will enjoy two days of early access starting from June 24.
The 10-minute trailer, embedded below, features a mix of cinematic sequences, gameplay footage, and a striking introduction to a character that fans are already comparing to Snake from Kojima's iconic Metal Gear series.
This character, portrayed by Italian actor Luca Marinelli, is seen donning a bandana reminiscent of Snake and leading a group of eerie soldiers. Named Neil, he appears to be a soldier wielding an assault rifle.Continuing the narrative from the 2019 original, Death Stranding 2 poses the thought-provoking question, 'Should We Have Connected?'
