Deltarune enthusiasts have something special to look forward to with the upcoming Switch 2 version of the game. Announced during the latest Nintendo Direct on April 2, Deltarune for Switch 2 will not only include chapters 3 and 4 but also feature some exclusive elements designed to enhance your gaming experience on this next-gen console.
Exclusive Features for Switch 2
One of the standout features of the Switch 2 version is a unique "SPECIAL ROOM" that leverages the mouse functionality of the new Joy-Cons. As stated by Deltarune developer Toby Fox in a Fangamer newsletter, "So, we made a very small SPECIAL ROOM which takes advantage of using MOUSE CONTROLS ON TWO CONTROLLERS AT ONCE, only possible on the Nintendo Switch 2!!" This innovative use of controls promises to offer a fresh gameplay experience exclusive to Switch 2 users.
For those playing on non-Switch 2 devices, the SPECIAL ROOM will still be accessible, though it will utilize a different control scheme. Additionally, players can seamlessly import their save files from the Nintendo Switch demo of Deltarune 1 and 2 to the new version, ensuring a smooth transition to the latest content.
Future Chapters and Pricing
Deltarune will be priced at $24.99 and will include Chapters 1 and 2, along with the new releases of Chapters 3 and 4. While Chapters 1 and 2 were initially released for free in 2018 and 2021, respectively, it was previously announced that Chapters 3-5 would require payment. However, Toby Fox has exciting news for fans: all future chapters will be added as free updates. He expressed his hope that as more chapters are completed, players will feel that the game offers exceptional value. "But, it's my hope that as we complete more Chapters, you'll feel like this game was a super super super super good deal," Fox stated.
In addition to the game, the Deltarune soundtrack will be available on Steam for $14.99. The upcoming release of Chapters 3 and 4 will feature over 150 songs, with songs from future chapters also being added for free. This approach ensures that Deltarune continues to provide value and enjoyment to its fans without additional costs.
DELTARUNE Chapters 1-4 are set to launch on June 5, 2025, coinciding with the release of the Switch 2.
