On the third day of this year's Anime Expo in Los Angeles, California, Ryu Ga Gotoku (RGG) Studio hosted the Essence of Fandom: Like a Dragon & Yakuza Experience. The event was led by Linda "VampyBitMe" Le, with Like a Dragon Chief Producer Hiroyuki Sakamoto and the voice actor of Ichiban Kasuga, Kazuhiro Nakaya, in attendance.
During the event, studio representatives teased the audience with details about their upcoming game, stating, "We can’t tell you what kind of game it is, but I will tell you, you’ll be surprised." This intriguing statement was captured and shared by user @TheYakuzaGuy on Twitter, who also confirmed that the studio described it as a new entry in the Like a Dragon series.
Given that the seventh mainline game in the series shifted to a full-on JRPG format, moving away from the traditional action beat 'em up style, the promise of another "surprising" entry opens up a world of possibilities. Fans might see anything from a rhythm game centered around the beloved karaoke mini-game, a spin-off focusing on other characters from the series, or even a remake or sequel to previous spin-offs like Yakuza: Dead Souls or the Japan-exclusive Ryu ga Gotoku Kenzan.
