Dune: Awakening, the highly anticipated open-world survival MMO inspired by Frank Herbert’s iconic sci-fi novels and Denis Villeneuve’s cinematic adaptations, has been officially delayed to June 10, 2025.
Developer Funcom announced the updated release date and revealed that players who purchase the Deluxe Edition or Ultimate Edition will gain early access to the game on June 5, 2025—five days ahead of the full launch.

The delay comes after valuable feedback gathered during the game’s ongoing Persistent Closed Beta. Funcom explained that the additional time will allow the team “a bit more time to cook,” ensuring a more polished and immersive experience at launch. This window will also enable the implementation of key improvements and community-requested features identified during beta testing.
Moreover, the extra development time will support a large-scale beta weekend event next month, opening the doors to even more players. This event will offer a broader audience the chance to explore Arrakis and contribute vital feedback before the official release.
While the wait may be tough for eager fans, there’s still exciting content on the horizon. Funcom will host a live combat deep-dive stream today at 12pm ET / 9am PT, showcasing detailed insights into PvP and PvE combat mechanics, character archetypes, and skill systems.
IGN has been highly optimistic about Dune: Awakening, stating in their hands-on preview: "It's easy to be sceptical about an MMO survival game set in the Dune universe, but after a few bouts of dehydration and sunstroke, the day I spent in Arrakis convinced me that Dune: Awakening is one to watch."For more, explore the game’s post-launch roadmap, business model details, and the in-depth gameplay trailer unveiled at Gamescom ONL last year.
