EA Confirms Plans to Bring Major Franchises to Nintendo Switch 2
Electronic Arts (EA) has confirmed its intention to release many of its popular games on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. During a recent financial call, CEO Andrew Wilson highlighted key franchises like Madden NFL and EA Sports FC as having the potential for significant success on the new platform, citing the possibility of reaching a new player base. He also mentioned The Sims as a title that could perform well, referencing the strong performance and new player acquisition of the My Sims series on previous Nintendo consoles.
Wilson emphasized the opportunity to attract new players and expand into new communities with each new console generation. While specific details regarding game versions and release dates remain unannounced, the statement strongly suggests a commitment to the Switch 2.
The announcement fuels speculation about the versions of Madden and EA Sports FC that will launch on the Switch 2. Previous iterations of FIFA on Nintendo consoles were often "legacy" versions, but recent efforts have focused on achieving feature parity across platforms. Given the Switch 2's anticipated increased power, fans anticipate a closer experience to the versions available on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
The Switch 2's game lineup is gradually taking shape. Numerous third-party titles are rumored, including Civilization VII, games from Nacon (publisher of Greedfall 2, Test Drive Unlimited, and RoboCop: Rogue City), and the highly anticipated Hollow Knight: Silksong. Nintendo itself has confirmed a new Mario Kart is in development, with further details expected at a Nintendo Direct in April.
