Elden Ring is coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 with its Tarnished Edition. It appears FromSoftware's epic adventure will include several new bonuses, including additional character classes and new cosmetic options for your spectral steed, Torrent.
As reported by Famitsu, a "FROMSOFTWARE GAMES EVENT Spring 2025" took place in Tokyo on May 6th. The presentation unveiled fresh details about Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition, confirming the addition of two new starting character classes.
The two new classes, as translated by RPG Site, are the "Knight of Ides" and the "Heavy Armored Knight." Beyond their names and visual designs, few specifics were shared. These two armor sets are reportedly part of four new armor sets included in the Tarnished Edition, with the other two being obtainable through gameplay. The event also teased more new weapons and skills.
For players devoted to their mount, the spirit horse Torrent will also receive three new appearances. While this content is bundled into Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition (which includes the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion), FromSoftware confirmed it will also be available on other platforms via a separate DLC called the Tarnished Pack. According to RPG Site, the developer stated this DLC pack will be offered at a low price point.
The introduction of new starting classes is a compelling addition, particularly fitting for players likely starting fresh saves on the Switch 2 who may want a different experience. Having new content available from the outset could be a major draw for veterans who have already extensively explored the Lands Between on other systems.
Elden Ring has achieved a monumental reach, having officially surpassed 30 million sales worldwide. This is a titanic accomplishment, and the game's arrival on the Switch 2 will likely push those numbers even higher.
No specific release date has been announced for Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition on the Switch 2, nor for the Tarnished Pack DLC's launch on other platforms, other than a general 2025 window.
