Bandai Namco Entertainment and A24 have officially announced development of Elden Ring's live-action adaptation today.
Oscar-nominated filmmaker Alex Garland (Ex Machina, Civil War) will direct the adaptation, aiming to translate the game's vast world and intense combat to cinema. The project brings together producers Peter Rice, Andrew Macdonald and Allon Reich from DNA Films, alongside Game of Thrones creator George R.R. Martin and executive producer Vince Gerardis. FromSoftware president Hidetaka Miyazaki's involvement remains unconfirmed.
Specific details regarding plot and casting remain under wraps, though fans can expect more announcements in the coming months.
Elden Ring's Continued Dominance in 2025

While the film adaptation may take time to materialize, the Elden Ring franchise continues its impressive momentum with new gaming content.
The original 2022 release became one of history's most celebrated games, selling 13.4 million copies in its first five weeks. By April 2025, global sales reached 30 million copies - a milestone celebrated by developer FromSoftware thanking players worldwide. The title holds the record for most Game of Year awards (324) and its 2024 Shadow of the Erdtree DLC matched the base game's critical acclaim.
2025 brings two major Elden Ring releases: The co-op spinoff Elden Ring Nightreign arrives May 30th for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, introducing a new multiplayer experience set in the Limveld realm where players battle the Nightlord threat.
Additionally, the Nintendo Switch 2 will receive Elden Ring Tarnished Edition later this year, featuring all DLC content plus new armor sets and Torrent customization options.
