During the new Escape from Tarkov wipe developers will show New Year special

Escape from Tarkov's wipe, originally planned for before the New Year to coincide with an easier Kappa container quest, now has a confirmed release time. The wipe and update will occur on December 26th at 7:00 AM GMT / 2:00 AM EST. Following maintenance (estimated at 8 hours, though past updates have taken longer), the game will update to version 0.16.0.0 (Tarkov Arena to 0.2.5.0).

To compensate for downtime, Battlestate Games will host a New Year's Special on Twitch at 4:00 PM GMT / 11:00 AM EST. Details remain undisclosed, but players can anticipate additional content.

Version 0.16.0.0 confirms the full game release remains pending, likely until 2025. However, several significant features are anticipated:

Firstly, a long-awaited migration to the Unity 2022 engine is expected. While initially slated for 2024, implementation timelines can vary.

Secondly, a major overhaul of the weapon recoil system is anticipated, potentially significantly impacting gameplay.

New weapons, including the RPG-26, are also rumored. The Customs map is slated for a rework, promising substantial changes. Bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements are confirmed, although the engine upgrade may introduce unforeseen issues. Only time will tell the full impact.
