FFXIV Mobile: MMORPG Masterpiece Now Pocket-Sized

by Mia Jan 17,2025

Final Fantasy XIV is officially heading to mobile devices, bringing years of content to players on the go. Developed by Tencent's Lightspeed Studios in collaboration with Square Enix, this mobile version will let you explore Eorzea from the palm of your hand.

The official announcement ends months of speculation. Tencent's Lightspeed Studios will partner closely with Square Enix on this project.

Final Fantasy XIV's journey has been remarkable. Its initial 2012 release was met with harsh criticism, prompting a complete overhaul with the "A Realm Reborn" update. This relaunch revitalized the game, transforming it into a flagship title for Square Enix.

The mobile version, set in the familiar world of Eorzea, will launch with a substantial amount of content. Nine jobs will be available at launch, allowing players to switch freely using the Armoury system. Popular minigames like Triple Triad will also return.

This mobile release marks a significant milestone for Final Fantasy XIV, given its tumultuous history and impressive resurgence. The partnership with Tencent underscores the importance of this mobile adaptation.

One potential concern is the initial content offering. It's likely that expansions and updates will be gradually added, rather than launching with the entirety of the game's extensive content.
