Galarian Pokémon Arrive in Pokémon GO!

The Steely Resolve event in Pokémon GO, commencing January 21st, marks the highly anticipated arrival of Rookidee, Corvisquire, and Corviknight. This addition significantly expands the game's Galar region Pokémon roster.

The arrival was subtly hinted at in December 2024's Dual Destiny Season loading screen, featuring Rookidee and Corviknight before their official announcement. The event, running from 10 am on January 21st to 8 pm on January 26th (local time), offers a wealth of activities.

Event Highlights:

  • New Pokémon Debut: Rookidee, Corvisquire, and Corviknight enter the Pokémon GO world.
  • Dual Destiny Special Research: Unlocks new rewards and challenges.
  • Enhanced Spawns: Increased encounter rates for Clefairy, Paldean Wooper, Carbink, and others (some shiny-capable).
  • Magnetic Lure Modules: Attract Pokémon like Onix, Beldum, Shieldon, and Rookidee.
  • Charged TM Utility: Allows Shadow Pokémon to unlearn Frustration.
  • Raid Battles: Featuring Deoxys (Attack & Defense Forms), Dialga, and Mega Raids with Mega Gallade and Mega Medicham.
  • 2km Eggs: Offer chances to hatch Shieldon, Carbink, Mareanie, and Rookidee (some shiny-capable).
  • Evolutionary Bonuses: Evolving specific Pokémon during the event grants them unique, powerful attacks (e.g., Corviknight learning Iron Head).
  • GO Battle Week (Concurrent): Boasting 4x Stardust from wins, increased daily battle sets (up to 20), and a free Timed Research with Grimsley-inspired avatar rewards.

Specific Event Details:

The Steely Resolve event includes a new Special Research, Field Research tasks, and a $5 Paid Timed Research. Wild encounters will feature a boosted spawn rate for Clefairy, Machop, Totodile, Marill, Hoppip, Paldean Wooper, Shieldon, Bunnelby, Carbink, and Mareanie (denotes shiny possibility). Raids will feature one-star, five-star (Deoxys, Dialga), and Mega Raids. The 2km Eggs will contain Shieldon, Carbink, Mareanie, and Rookidee (*denotes shiny possibility).

GO Battle Week, running concurrently, offers increased Stardust rewards, expanded daily battle limits, and a free battle-themed Timed Research. Several leagues will be active throughout the week.

Beyond the Corviknight line's debut, January also features Shadow Raids (including Shadow Ho-Oh's return), Dynamax raids with Kanto Legendary Birds, and the return of the Pokémon GO Community Day Classic. This makes for a jam-packed start to the year for Pokémon GO players.
