GOG Resurrects Dino Crisis and Dino Crisis 2 on PC

by Ethan Mar 19,2025

Rejoice, dinosaur-hunting survival horror fans! GOG has resurrected Dino Crisis and Dino Crisis 2, bringing these PlayStation cult classics to PC in DRM-free glory. Both games, preserved as part of GOG's Preservation Program, are available now with their original content intact.

Originally released on PlayStation in 1999 and 2000 respectively, these titles have remained elusive for modern PC gamers. While Dino Crisis 3 launched on the original Xbox in 2003, a new entry in the series has remained a long-held fan wish, seemingly dashed by Capcom's 2022 release of Exoprimal and creator Shinji Mikami's comments on the matter. Despite this, the arrival of these PC ports is a welcome event.

GOG's enhanced versions address the challenges of running these older titles on modern systems, ensuring a smooth experience. "Thanks to the tremendous efforts of Capcom and GOG, Regina’s iconic line, 'You’re extinct!' no longer applies to the game itself," GOG proudly declared.

Dino Crisis on GOG: Enhanced Features

These improvements make the experience significantly better for today's players:

  • Full compatibility with Windows 10 and 11.
  • All six original localizations (English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, and Japanese).
  • Original, Arrange, and Operation Wipe Out modes.
  • Improved DirectX game renderer.
  • Enhanced rendering options (Windowed Mode, Vertical Synchronization Control, Gamma Correction, Integer Scaling, Anti-Aliasing, and more).
  • Increased rendering resolution up to ~4K (1920p) and 32-bit color depth.
  • Improved geometry calculation, transformation, and texturing.
  • Enhanced alpha transparency.
  • Improved game registry settings.
  • Issue-free animation, video, and music playback.
  • Reliable saving (no more corrupted save files from dropped weapons).
  • Full modern controller support (Sony DualSense, DualShock4, Microsoft Xbox Series, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Nintendo Switch, Logitech F series, and many more) with optimized button mapping, hotplugging, and wireless functionality.

Dino Crisis 2 on GOG: Enhanced Features

The improvements to Dino Crisis 2 are equally impressive:

  • Full compatibility with Windows 10 and 11.
  • Both original localizations (English and Japanese).
  • Inclusion of Easy difficulty, Dino Colosseum, and Dino Duel modes.
  • Improved DirectX game renderer.
  • Enhanced rendering options (Windowed Mode, Vertical Synchronization Control, Gamma Correction, Integer Scaling, Anti-Aliasing, and more).
  • Improved music playback and volume scaling.
  • Improved item rendering and fogging.
  • Improved cartridge box alignment.
  • Issue-free video playback, task switching, and game exit.
  • Full modern controller support (Sony DualSense, DualShock4, Microsoft Xbox Series, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Nintendo Switch, Logitech F series, and many more) with optimized button mapping and wireless functionality.

Furthermore, GOG has launched its Dreamlist, a community voting tool to help determine which games should be revived and added to the platform. This initiative allows fans to directly influence GOG's future acquisitions.
