"Guide to Farming Sharp Fang in Monster Hunter Wilds"

by Patrick May 22,2025

In *Monster Hunter Wilds*, gathering resources like Sharp Fangs is essential for crafting and enhancing your gear. These valuable items can be found early in the game, particularly in the Windward Plains, which you'll explore at the start of your journey. Sharp Fangs are crucial for forging beginner-tier gear sets such as Chatacabra and Talioth armor, so knowing where to find them can give you a significant advantage.

How to Get Sharp Fangs in Monster Hunter Wilds

Screenshot by The EscapistTo embark on your quest for Sharp Fangs, consider taking up one of the initial optional quests like "Beware the Chatacabra" or "The Desert is Demanding." These quests will lead you to the Windward Plains and offer a generous 50-minute time limit, allowing you ample time to explore. Before setting off, make sure to cook and eat a meal to boost your stats for the journey ahead.

Once in the Windward Plains, head east to Area 8, the largest area on the map, where you'll find herds or solo smaller monsters. Focus your attention on the following creatures to efficiently gather Sharp Fangs:

Gaijos

Gaijos marked on a map in Monster Hunter WildsGaijos are small leviathan monsters that resemble crocodiles with unique snouts. You can find them near or in riverbeds, often alone. To locate them easily, use the interactive map to scan for purple diamonds near water sources. These monsters are relatively easy to defeat with your starting weapons, and upon carving their carcasses, you're guaranteed to receive 1 x Sharp Fang.

Defeated Gaijos in Monster Hunter WildsGiven their guaranteed drop rate, Gaijos are your prime target for Sharp Fangs. There are typically four to five Gaijos in the Windward Plains upon entry. If you need more, you can simply re-enter via any Windward Plains optional quest to continue farming.

Talioth

Group of Talioth monsters in Monster Hunter WildsTalioth are bipedal creatures that roam in small packs in Areas 8 and sometimes 13. While they're a bit tougher than Gaijos, they're still manageable with starter weapons. Carving their carcasses may yield other items like Talioth Scales, but there's also a chance for Sharp Fangs. Additionally, hunting Talioths can help you complete the "The Desert is Demanding" quest, which requires you to kill 8 Talioths.

With these strategies, you'll be well on your way to farming Sharp Fangs in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. For more tips and guides, including how to master the Great Sword with all its moves and combos, be sure to check out our other content.
