With the March 2025 update, *Fields of Mistria* introduces Essence Stones, essential for various new in-game features that enhance your daily tasks. Here's a detailed guide on how to find, craft, and utilize these stones effectively.

Following the March 2025 update, Essence Stones can be discovered inside chests scattered throughout the mines of *Fields of Mistria*. My first encounter with these stones was while seeking offering items to break the Fire Seal on Floor 60. However, these chests can appear on any level across all existing biomes and floors. Be cautious of mimic enemies, which mimic the appearance of chests but will harm you upon interaction.
Essence Stones come in four sizes: tiny, small, medium, and large. While smaller stones are more common, diligent exploration can lead to finding larger deposits. If you're struggling to locate them, consider crafting them once you've built the Stone Refinery within the mines.

Crafting Essence Stones becomes possible at the Stone Refinery in *Fields of Mistria*, introduced as part of a new story quest with the March 2025 update. Building the refinery involves a quest where Adeline recruits you to work alongside Olric and Errol within the mines.
To construct the Stone Refinery, gather:
- x200 Wood
- x400 Stone
- x5,000 Tesserae
Once the refinery is operational, you can craft Essence Stones of various sizes, each requiring Stone and Essence in differing quantities:
**Tiny Essence Stone** | x5 Stone x5 Essence |
**Small Essence Stone** | x10 Stone x25 Essence |
**Medium Essence Stone** | x20 Stone x50 Essence |
**Large Essence Stone** | x40 Stone x100 Essence |
Beyond Essence Stones, the Stone Refinery also allows crafting of common materials, Refined Stone, and rare items like Obsidian and Diamond, making it an invaluable hub for your crafting needs in Mistria.
How to Use Essence Stones in Fields of Mistria
The March 2025 update also brings the auto-petter and sprinkler mechanics to *Fields of Mistria*, both of which rely on Essence Stones for operation. Larger stones provide a longer charge, with Large Essence Stones offering the most extended duration.

The auto-petter mechanic is facilitated by the Animal Sprite Statue, which you can place in Large Barns and Coops. It automatically pets all animals daily as long as an Essence Stone is active. Locate this rare statue in the concealed cave next to Errol’s house in the Narrows by using the Dragon’s Breath spell on the entrance. Once unlocked, you can craft additional statues as needed.
The sprinkler mechanic, enabled by the Water Sprite Statue, automatically waters crops within a 2-tile radius when an Essence Stone is used. Place these statues anywhere on your farm to suit your crop layout. Find the original statue and its crafting scroll on a small island east of the beach, beyond the Lighthouse area. Access this island by swimming, and use Dragon’s Breath to enter.
As *Fields of Mistria* evolves with future updates from NPC Studio, the utility of Essence Stones is likely to expand, enhancing your gameplay experience.
