"Using the Haunted Mirror in Phasmophobia: A Guide"

by Aria May 03,2025

Venturing into the eerie world of *Phasmophobia*, players often seek out the most notorious ghosts, sometimes resorting to the use of Cursed Possessions. Among these, the Haunted Mirror stands out as a particularly useful tool, despite the inherent risks involved. If you're hesitant about trying it, let's delve into how it works and why it's considered one of the safer options.

How to Use Haunted Mirror in Phasmophobia

Haunted Mirror in Phasmophobia

The Haunted Mirror is often regarded as the safest Cursed Object in *Phasmophobia*. Its ability to provide valuable insights without excessive risk makes it highly recommended for use during investigations. The mirror's function has remained consistent through the game's updates, making it a reliable choice.

When you use the Haunted Mirror, it reveals the ghost's current favorite room or area on the map by showing a panoramic view of that location. If you're familiar with the map's layout, this feature can significantly speed up your search for the ghost, allowing you to set up your equipment before the situation escalates.

You'll typically find the Haunted Mirror hanging on a wall, such as in 6 Tanglewood Drive, or lying on the floor in its designated spot. Cursed Objects always appear in the same location on each map, though the specific object that spawns is randomized.

To use the Haunted Mirror, simply pick it up and press the appropriate button (mouse or controller) to interact with it and hold it up. The reflection will show you the ghost's current favorite room. On Professional difficulty or higher, remember that the ghost may move to a different area after some time.

However, be cautious not to stare into the Haunted Mirror for too long, as doing so will drain your sanity. If you hold it up until it shatters, a Cursed Hunt will be triggered at your current location. Therefore, use it when your sanity is high and quickly understand what you're seeing in the reflection.

What are Cursed Objects (Possessions) in Phasmophobia?

Cursed Possessions, also known as "Cursed Objects," are unique items in *Phasmophobia* that appear randomly on any map, influenced by difficulty settings or Challenge Mode. Unlike regular equipment, which helps locate the ghost and gather evidence with minimal risk, Cursed Objects offer shortcuts to manipulate the ghost but at a significantly higher risk to your character.

The safety of using these objects varies depending on their specific abilities, and it's up to you and your team to decide whether to use them. There's no penalty for avoiding them, and only one Cursed Possession spawns per contract, unless modified in Custom settings.

There are seven different Cursed Objects available in the game, including:

  • Summoning Circle
  • Haunted Mirror
  • Voodoo Doll
  • Music Box
  • Tarot Cards
  • Ouija Board
  • Monkey Paw
