"Hollow Knight: Silksong Playable at Australian Museum in September 2025"

by Brooklyn May 13,2025

IGN has exciting news for fans of Hollow Knight: Silksong – the game will be playable at Australia's national museum of screen culture, ACMI, starting September 18, 2025. Developed by Team Cherry, based in Adelaide, South Australia, this highly anticipated game has been topping the Steam wishlist chart for years. While Team Cherry has only confirmed a vague 2025 release window, this upcoming event at ACMI provides a tangible date for fans to mark on their calendars.

As part of the Game Worlds exhibition at the Melbourne museum, Hollow Knight: Silksong will not only be playable but will also feature displays showcasing the game's intricate design and artistic direction. Visitors will get a behind-the-scenes look at the hundreds of sprites that animate Hornet's movements and attacks, as well as insights into the logic behind the game’s challenging boss fights.

Bethan Johnson and Jini Maxwell, co-curators at ACMI, expressed their excitement about featuring Hollow Knight: Silksong in the Game Worlds exhibition. They highlighted the game's status as one of the most anticipated indie titles since its announcement in 2019 and praised the detailed artistic direction and design that will be showcased. They also expressed gratitude to Team Cherry for allowing them to display the game's intricate elements.

ACMI also shared a sprite sheet from Silksong, which will be part of the exhibition's display, offering a glimpse into the game's design elements.

With the game set to be playable at ACMI in September, fans are hopeful that a full release might occur before then, possibly as early as August. The anticipation continues to build, especially after Silksong made a brief appearance at Nintendo's Switch 2 Direct last month, confirming the 2025 release window and showcasing new gameplay footage.

Originally planned for Nintendo Switch and PC, with versions for Xbox (and Game Pass), PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 announced later, Silksong has been at the center of various intriguing teases. The year began with a mysterious hint related to a chocolate cake recipe, fueling speculation about a potential re-reveal in April. As excitement mounts, the gaming community eagerly awaits further updates on this much-anticipated title.
