Hyper Light Breaker: How to Get New Weapons

by Stella Mar 22,2025

Hyper Light Breaker boasts a diverse arsenal of weapons, and crafting a powerful build hinges on acquiring strong ones. While you begin with basic equipment, the game rewards exploration with opportunities to find weapons perfectly suited to your playstyle.

Blending roguelike and extraction game elements, Hyper Light Breaker offers a unique approach to gear acquisition. Here's how to expand your weapon collection:

Where to Find New Weapons in Hyper Light Breaker

Hyper Light Breaker Weapon Locations

Your primary source of new weapons is exploring Overgrowths. While exploring naturally yields new gear, focusing on sword (Blades) or pistol (Rails) icons on the map significantly increases your chances of finding weapons.

Blades are melee weapons, each offering distinct movesets and abilities. Rails, on the other hand, are ranged weapons with unique functionalities. Both weapon types come in varying rarities, with gold being the most powerful. As expected, rarer weapons boast superior stats.

To save weapons for later runs, press the Cache button instead of Equip. This sends the weapon to your personal stash, allowing you to equip it before your next adventure.

Obtaining New Starting Weapons

Beyond discovering weapons during runs, you can purchase new starting equipment from merchants at the Cursed Outpost. Initially, only the Blades merchant is available. Unlocking the Rails merchant requires gathering enough materials to repair their shop.

Merchants have limited stock, but their inventories refresh periodically. Check back often to see what new weapons are available.

Upgrading Weapons

Hyper Light Breaker Weapon Upgrades

Upgrade your weapons at the Outpost merchants, but first, you must unlock the upgrade feature by increasing your affinity with the merchants. This requires Golden Rations, a rare resource found through exploration or by resetting cycles. Use these rations wisely, as they are difficult to obtain.

Remember, equipped weapons lose durability (represented by a bar under their icons) each time you die, eventually breaking after repeated failures.
