Jason Momoa is making a comeback to the world of Dune, but not before taking a razor to his iconic look. The actor shared a clip documenting the moment he shaved his beard in preparation for the production of Dune 3, clearly showcasing his commitment to the part.
"This is only for you, Denis," Momoa remarked in the video, giving a nod to Dune director Denis Villeneuve, who is also steering the third chapter. He later admitted he wasn't fond of his clean-shaven appearance, a look he hadn't sported in six years. "Good grief, I really don't like this," he exclaimed in the footage.
Momoa, widely recognized for playing DC's Aquaman, is famous for his thick beard and flowing brown locks, making this new bare-faced look quite the departure. It's worth noting, however, that he was also clean-shaven for Villeneuve's first Dune movie, where he portrayed the beloved character Duncan Idaho.
After sitting out the second film, Dune: Part Two, he is set to rejoin the epic story alongside his son, Nakoa-Wolf Momoa. His son will portray Leto II, one of the twin children of Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) and Chani (Zendaya).
Momoa recently opened up about his son's first foray into filmmaking. "He's in for a real wake-up call," he told Extra earlier this month. "This is his first time joining the working world. It will be a great experience for him. He earned this on his own merit, and that's what makes me so proud."
He continued: "Every parent hopes their child will surpass them, and I genuinely believe he has the potential to do so. I couldn't have handled what he's doing at his age. There's just no way I could have sat across from Denis Villeneuve at 16 and held my ground. When I was 19, I was on Baywatch. He's 16 and already confidently collaborating with a master filmmaker like Denis."
Dune: Part Three is scheduled for release on December 18, 2026. In other news, Momoa is also slated to appear as Lobo in next year's DC Universe film, Supergirl.
