Keanu Reeves offers the most encouraging update yet on Constantine 2, confirming a script is in the works.
John Constantine, the occult detective and exorcist from DC Comics, was memorably portrayed by Reeves in the 2005 film adaptation, which achieved cult classic status. For two decades, fans have clamored for a sequel, a desire Reeves has openly shared.
Now, Constantine 2 appears closer to reality following Reeves' confirmation of a successful pitch meeting at DC Studios.
"We've been pursuing this film for over a decade, and we recently finalized a story, pitched it to DC Studios, and they approved," Reeves revealed to Inverse. "So, we're moving forward with scripting."

While promising, it's crucial to remember that DC Studios co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran haven't officially greenlit the script. Constantine 2 remains unconfirmed within the rebooted DCU and hasn't been publicly acknowledged by Gunn or Safran. Uncertainty persists.
However, Reeves hinted at the film's setting, assuring fans it will remain consistent with the original. "We're staying true to the original world," he stated, adding with a touch of humor, "John Constantine will face even more torment."
Reeves' comments follow producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura's September statement regarding a completed script, though he admitted his reluctance to read it due to high expectations.
In an interview with ComicBook, di Bonaventura shared, "It's actually in my inbox right now. Funnily enough, I'm too scared to read it; I desperately want it to be good. I'll probably read it on my next flight."
