Another gacha game bites the dust! KonoSuba: Fantastic Days Global, developed by Sumzap and published by Nexon (later Sesisoft), has officially shut down its servers today, January 30th, marking the end of a 3.5-year run. While relatively short compared to the Japanese version's 5-year lifespan, this is still a respectable run for an anime-based gacha, especially considering declining revenue in recent times.
A Dignified Farewell:
Despite the closure, the developers showed dedication to the game's final days. They continued releasing content right up until the end, including voiced story updates and a new song just three weeks ago. A farewell livestream in December even featured Kazuma's voice actor. The Japanese version went above and beyond by archiving the entire main story on YouTube, allowing players to revisit the antics of Kazuma and his crew indefinitely. An offline version also grants access to the story, voice lines, and character collection.
Global Players Miss Out on Offline Access:
Unfortunately, the global version lacks both an offline mode and a dedicated YouTube archive. However, fans can still enjoy the Japanese YouTube archive for a complete experience.
What's Next?
The developers have shifted their focus to the Jujutsu Kaisen Phantom Parade gacha game. This concludes our coverage of the KonoSuba: Fantastic Days Global shutdown. Stay tuned for our next article covering Karrablast and Shelmet in Pokémon Go's February Community Day.
