Crystal Dynamics Unveil Exciting New Legacy of Kain Projects
Fans of the iconic Legacy of Kain series have reason to celebrate as Crystal Dynamics, the renowned California-based game developer, has announced two thrilling new projects set in the gothic world of Nosgoth. Following the successful December 2024 release of Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered, the studio is now collaborating with UK-based creative design studio Lost In Cult and Dutch art dealership Cook and Becker to expand the franchise's universe.
The Book of Nosgoth: A Comprehensive Encyclopedia
The first project, "The Book of Nosgoth," is an official encyclopedia that promises to be the ultimate guide to the world of Nosgoth. Written by Nic Reuben of Rock Paper Shotgun, this compendium will delve deep into the lore, offering detailed insights into Nosgoth’s locations, factions, and inhabitants. It will also feature a comprehensive timeline that chronicles the epic saga of Kain and Raziel, the series' central protagonists.
Beyond its rich lore, The Book of Nosgoth will provide fans with behind-the-scenes content, including original concept art, sketches, maps, and exclusive interviews with the developers. This encyclopedia will cover the creation of all five Legacy of Kain titles, giving readers a thorough understanding of the series' production history.
Legacy of Kain: Scourge of Sarafan TTRPG
The second announcement is "Legacy of Kain: Scourge of Sarafan," an immersive tabletop role-playing game set during the Sarafan Order’s crusade against the vampiric scourge. Utilizing the acclaimed MÖRK BORG ruleset, this game promises a mechanics-light yet high-stakes experience where players take on the roles of Sarafan warrior priests.
Legacy of Kain: Scourge of Sarafan will feature six playable classes, unique weapons and spells, an official bestiary of nocturnal horrors, and a detailed representation of Nosgoth’s landscape. Players will embark on vampire hunts, explore Nosgoth’s hidden history, and venture into the spectral realm, crafting their own unique narratives within the game.
