Metal Slug: Awakening delivers a modern twist on the beloved 90s franchise. Initially revealed in 2020 as Metal Slug Code: J by TiMi Studios, the game has undergone development and name changes, finally debuting in Southeast Asia in late 2023. Now, it's ready for worldwide release.
For the uninitiated, Metal Slug is a renowned Japanese run-and-gun series, first launched in 1996 by Nazca Corporation. It has since expanded into a multimedia phenomenon. While previous mobile entries like Metal Slug Defense (2014), Metal Slug Attack (2016), and Metal Slug Commander (2020) existed, Awakening promises a significant upgrade.
This latest iteration stays true to the original gameplay, incorporating enhanced visuals and innovative mechanics. Expect to see familiar faces and embark on new missions. Features include a World Adventure mode, 3-player cooperative Team-up battles, and challenging Roguelike game modes.
