Mastering the Music Box in Phasmophobia: A Guide to Location, Usage, and Hunt Triggers
Phasmophobia challenges players to identify ghost types and escape alive. The game's updates introduce new elements, including the intriguing Music Box. This guide details how to acquire and effectively utilize this cursed item.
Acquiring the Music Box
The Music Box, like other cursed objects, has a 1/7 chance of appearing on any given map. Its spawn is entirely random; there's no guaranteed method to obtain it. Only one Music Box can spawn per playthrough. Once located, activate it by interacting with it.
Utilizing the Music Box
Several strategies revolve around the Music Box. Here's how it functions:
Activation initiates a song. If a ghost is within 20 meters, it will "sing along," revealing its location. Proximity within 5 meters triggers the ghost to approach the Box. The activated Music Box can be placed on the ground, acting as a lure. The song's conclusion automatically closes the Box. Note that holding the active Music Box depletes sanity.
Triggering Hunts with the Music Box
The Music Box can initiate either a cursed or standard hunt, depending on these conditions:
- Throwing the active Music Box (not placing it down).
- Reaching 0% sanity while holding the active Box.
- The ghost approaching the Box for over five seconds.
- Ghost proximity to the player holding the active Box.
For optimal use, consider bringing supplementary tools like Smudge Sticks to mitigate hunt risks and facilitate ghost identification or objective completion.
