Neil Druckmann: No Promises on The Last of Us Part 3

by Violet May 07,2025

If you're a fan of *The Last of Us* eagerly awaiting news about a potential Part 3 video game, I have some disappointing updates for you. Series creator Neil Druckmann has recently dashed hopes that *The Last of Us Part 3* is in development or will ever come to fruition.

In a detailed interview with Variety, primarily focused on the upcoming *The Last of Us* TV series, Druckmann addressed the possibility of *The Last of Us Part 3* at the end. His response was quite definitive:

“I was waiting for this question,” he said, with a sigh. “I guess the only thing I would say is don’t bet on there being more of ‘Last of Us.’ This could be it.”

The sincerity of Druckmann's statement remains a topic of debate. Currently, Naughty Dog is fully engaged in developing *Intergalactic*, announced at The Game Awards last December. With no release window in sight, it's clear the studio is deeply invested in this new project, leaving little room for *The Last of Us Part 3* in the near future. Druckmann might be playing his cards close to the chest, or perhaps he's genuinely finished with the series. Only time will tell.

For fans still hungry for more *The Last of Us*, the television series offers a silver lining. The second season is set to premiere on April 13 on Max. While Druckmann mentioned uncertainty about the number of seasons needed to adapt the story of *Part 2*, an HBO executive suggested in February that the series might conclude after four seasons.
