Nintendo's Latest Collaboration: A LEGO Game Boy!
Nintendo and LEGO have teamed up again, this time creating a LEGO Game Boy! Launching October 2025, this follows the successful LEGO NES release.
While exciting news for fans of both brands, the announcement on X (formerly Twitter) has sparked considerable speculation regarding the Nintendo Switch 2. Many users jokingly interpreted the Game Boy LEGO set as a cryptic reveal of the next console.
Although details on the Switch 2 remain scarce, Nintendo President Furukawa confirmed in May 2024 that a successor announcement would be made within the current fiscal year (ending March). Patience is required!
Pricing for the LEGO Game Boy is yet to be announced, but further information is promised in the coming weeks or months.
Previous Nintendo/LEGO Collaborations
Beyond the NES, the partnership has produced LEGO sets featuring iconic characters from Super Mario, Animal Crossing, and The Legend of Zelda.
A notable example is the May 2024 release of a 2,500-piece LEGO "Great Deku Tree 2-in-1" set from The Legend of Zelda series. Featuring elements from Ocarina of Time and Breath of the Wild, along with Princess Zelda and the Master Sword, it retails at $299.99 USD.
Two months later, a Super Mario World LEGO set featuring Mario and Yoshi debuted. This unique set depicts the in-game sprites, with a rotating crank to animate Yoshi's leg, priced at $129.99 USD.
