Nintendo Denies Genki's Switch 2 Showcase Claims
Following recent claims by Genki, an American accessory maker, regarding a purported Nintendo Switch 2 demonstration at CES 2025, Nintendo has issued a statement. The company categorically denies any official involvement.
Genki's Unofficial Switch 2 Mockup
Nintendo confirmed to CNET Japan and the Sankei newspaper that the images and videos circulating, showcasing a 3D-printed Switch 2 mockup, are entirely unofficial. They explicitly stated that Genki did not receive any Switch 2 hardware from Nintendo.
At CES 2025, Genki generated significant buzz by presenting what they claimed was a 3D-printed model of the upcoming Switch 2. Furthermore, they reportedly shared a purported release date with journalists and attendees, implying possession of a functional Switch 2 unit.
Genki specializes in electronics and gaming console accessories, offering products like controllers, SSDs, and chargers. Interestingly, their website features a dedicated page for prospective Switch 2 accessories, complete with a detailed animated mockup of the console.
Despite Genki's claims, Nintendo maintains radio silence on concrete Switch 2 details, only promising an official announcement soon. The only confirmed feature is backward compatibility with existing Switch games. This recent controversy might accelerate Nintendo's plans for an official reveal.
