The release of the Switch 2 doesn't make the original Switch console obsolete. Every game playable on the new Switch 2—with the exception of Mario Kart World Tour—is still fully compatible with the original Switch. As part of the broader Prime Day sale, Amazon is offering an additional 30% off on select items in its Resale section. A prime example is the 'Used: Like New' Nintendo Switch OLED console, which drops to just $224 after the 30% off coupon is automatically applied at checkout. 'Like New' items are often brand-new, unused products with only minor packaging damage. Best of all, Amazon Resale items come with the same 30-day return policy as new purchases, so you can easily return the item if its condition doesn't meet your expectations.

If you can stretch to the slightly higher price of the Switch OLED over the standard model, the upgrade is worthwhile. The Nintendo Switch OLED boasts a superior OLED display, delivering better image quality than the original LCD screen. This means deeper blacks, more vibrant colors, and smoother color gradients. Text appears sharper and is easier to read. The screen itself isn't massively larger (7 inches on the OLED vs. 6.2 inches), but the slimmer bezels make it feel significantly bigger. Other notable improvements include a redesigned, sturdier kickstand, a built-in ethernet port on the dock, and an exclusive white console color with matching white Joy-Cons.
The Switch 2 is Here, But the Original Switch Remains a Great Choice
The new Nintendo Switch 2 is now on the market, but the original Switch console is still very much relevant. For one, the Switch 2 carries a much higher retail price of $449.99. Furthermore, only one major new triple-A title, Mario Kart World Tour, is currently exclusive to it, retailing for $79.99 unless you find a $500 bundle that includes the game. While some other games offer visual and performance upgrades on the Switch 2, these improvements alone may not justify the price jump for many. Personally, I'm waiting to buy a Switch 2 until more must-play exclusive games launch or a compelling special edition console is released.
