Pokémon TCG Pocket Has No Plans To Go Competitive
The Pokémon Company has made it clear that Pokémon TCG Pocket will not be entering its competitive circuit anytime soon. Dive into the details about Pokémon TCG Pocket’s future in the competitive scene and explore the potential reasons behind this decision.

Pokémon TCG Pocket Won’t Be In The Competitive Scene Just Yet

No Plans For Competitive Pocket

Pokémon TCG Pocket Has No Plans To Go Competitive

At present, there are no plans for Pokémon TCG Pocket to join the Pokémon competitive circuit. Chris Brown, The Pokémon Company’s Director of eSports, shared in an interview with VGC on February 25, 2025, that while they are constantly evaluating different titles for inclusion, Pokémon TCG Pocket isn't slated for the competitive scene just yet.

In a lighthearted moment, Brown mentioned "Pokémon Sleep is out there too," referencing the company's April Fool’s parody trailer for a Pokémon Sleep Champion Tournament. He then clarified, "But at this time, there are no plans for Pokémon TCG Pocket to join, though we’re always looking at new opportunities."

Too Early And Unbalanced

Pokémon TCG Pocket Has No Plans To Go Competitive

While The Pokémon Company hasn't specified why Pokémon TCG Pocket won’t be entering the competitive scene soon, fans have their theories. The game is still in its infancy, having been launched just four months ago in October 2024, with only two sets released so far.

Despite including competitive features within the app since its launch, the game is facing ongoing balancing issues. Players have called on developers to address these concerns. Pokémon TCG Pocket, a simplified version of the original card game, focuses on being more accessible to beginners, which might not align with the intensity of competitive play.

Nevertheless, the Pokémon Competitive Circuit continues to offer a variety of events for fans, including Pokémon TCG, Pokémon GO, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, and Pokémon Unite, all of which will be showcased at the upcoming Pokémon World Championships in August 2025 in Anaheim, California.

Despite the lack of new information since its initial announcement in 2024, fans remain eager for updates on Pokémon Legends: Z-A, slated for release in 2025. With new mega evolutions previously announced, the livestream may shed light on these developments. The upcoming Pokémon Presents on February 27, 2025, at 6 AM PT / 9 AM ET, streaming on YouTube and Twitch, could provide valuable insights into Pokémon's plans for its various games.
