Pokemon GO Reveals New Gigantamax Debut Coming in Future Event

Summary

  • Gigantamax Kingler makes its Pokémon GO debut on February 1st during Max Battle Day.
  • Max Mushrooms boost battle damage.
  • Event bonuses include increased Max Particle collection, enhanced Power Spot battles, and boosted XP rewards.

Pokémon GO announced the arrival of Gigantamax Kingler on February 1st. Last year's highly anticipated Dynamax and Gigantamax update has steadily expanded the roster of available variants. Gigantamax, a powerful Dynamax form, not only increases a Pokémon's size and strength but also alters its appearance and grants unique G-Max Moves. While the main series games feature 32 Gigantamax Pokémon, Pokémon GO currently boasts only six, with Gigantamax Lapras being the most recent addition. This is set to change with a new event.

Gigantamax Kingler will debut in Pokémon GO's Max Battle Day on February 1st, from 2 pm to 5 pm local time. This Water-type Pokémon will appear for the first time in six-star Max Battles, offering a chance to catch a shiny version. Players can utilize Max Mushrooms, a controversial item temporarily increasing damage dealt by Dynamax and Gigantamax Pokémon in Max Battles.

Max Battle Day is one of February's events, but not the only one. Niantic recently announced the Lunar New Year event (January 29th – February 1st). While Gigantamax Kingler won't debut during this event, players can anticipate the return of Shadow Ho-Oh in a Shadow Raid Day on January 19th, with more Galar Pokémon arriving in the coming days.
