A former Respawn Entertainment employee revealed on their LinkedIn profile that an unannounced project has been canceled after several years in development. No reason for the cancellation was given.
Last year, journalist Jeff Grubb reported the project wasn't a mainline Titanfall entry, confirming it wasn't Titanfall 3. Respawn assembled a dedicated "experimental team" of multiplayer shooter specialists for its development.
This follows the cancellation of another Respawn project last year, a codenamed arcade shooter titled Titanfall Legends.
The Titanfall series is renowned for its unique blend of fast-paced action and mech combat, allowing players to fight as agile pilots or powerful Titans. Since the 2014 release of the first game, the franchise has cultivated a strong following thanks to its innovative gameplay, combining parkour mechanics with dynamic team-based battles.
Respawn is currently concentrating on Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, the third installment in the Jedi series, and a new Star Wars strategy game developed in partnership with Bit Reactor.
