Introduced in Minecraft version 1.14, the Campfire is a versatile block that serves more than just a decorative purpose. It offers a range of functionalities that can enhance your gameplay in unexpected ways. From damaging mobs and players, signaling your location with smoke, cooking food, to pacifying bees, the Campfire is a must-have. This guide will explore the various methods to extinguish a Campfire, enabling you to harness its full potential and impress your friends with your Minecraft prowess.

How To Put Out A Fire In Minecraft

Extinguishing a fire in Minecraft can be achieved through three distinct methods:

  • Water Bucket: Utilize waterlogging to douse the flames. Simply fill a water bucket and pour it onto the block occupied by the Campfire.
  • Splash Water Potion: Alternatively, deploy a Splash Water Potion by tossing it onto the fire. While effective, this method can be costly early in the game due to the need for gunpowder and glass.
  • Shovel: The most budget-friendly and lesser-known technique involves using a shovel. Equip any shovel, including a wooden one, and right-click (or press the left trigger on consoles) on the Campfire to extinguish it.

How To Get A Campfire In Minecraft

With knowledge of extinguishing a Campfire, understanding how to obtain one is equally important. Here are the ways to acquire a Campfire:

  • Natural Generation: Campfires can be found in Taiga and Snowy Taiga villages, as well as in camps within Ancient Cities. To collect an already placed Campfire, you'll need a tool enchanted with Silk Touch. Without it, breaking the Campfire will yield only two coal in the Java version and four coal in the Bedrock version.
  • Crafting: Crafting a Campfire is straightforward, requiring sticks, wood, and either charcoal or soul sand. The choice of charcoal or soul sand will determine whether you craft a regular or soul fire Campfire.
  • Trading: You can trade with an apprentice fisherman to acquire a Campfire, costing five emeralds in the Bedrock version and two emeralds in the Java version.
