Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge: Super Thin Design Unveiled

by Bella May 25,2025

Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S25 Edge at its May Unpacked event, introducing a sleek new addition to its flagship lineup. While closely resembling the earlier-released Galaxy S25, the S25 Edge stands out with its remarkably thinner profile, aptly named for its cutting-edge design.

In terms of specifications, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is nearly identical to the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Both phones feature the powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and boast a high-resolution 200MP camera. The primary distinction lies in the chassis; the S25 Edge is significantly slimmer at just 5.8mm thick, compared to the 8.2mm of the S25 Ultra. This thinner design also results in a lighter weight, coming in at only 163g.

Despite its larger size, the Galaxy S25 Edge retains the same 6.7-inch AMOLED 2X display found on the Galaxy S25, matching the display quality of the slightly larger 6.9-inch screen on the S25 Ultra.

Given its thin and expansive build, durability is a key concern for the Galaxy S25 Edge. Samsung addresses this by incorporating the new Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, which is touted to be more durable than the Gorilla Glass Armor 2 used in the S25 Ultra. While drop resistance is important, the real test will be the phone's resilience against bending, particularly when subjected to pressure in a pocket—hopefully avoiding a repeat of the infamous "bendgate."

The Galaxy S25 Edge also includes the suite of "Mobile AI" tools introduced with the Galaxy S24 and enhanced in 2025. Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite, these tools enable significant on-device AI processing, enhancing privacy by minimizing reliance on cloud services. However, many AI applications will still require cloud connectivity. Among the standout features are tools that can summarize notifications and news articles at a glance, adding convenience for users.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is now available for preorder, starting at $1,099 for the 256GB model and $1,219 for the 512GB model. It comes in three stylish color options: Titanium Silver, Titanium Jet Black, and Titanium Icyblue.

Samsung emphasizes the durability of this slender device; we can only hope that it lives up to those claims.
