Shrek 5 has unveiled its all-new cast along with a brand-new teaser trailer, sparking varied reactions, including from none other than Movie Sonic, who seems unsure about Shrek's new appearance.
In a light-hearted video shared on TikTok, the Sonic Movie account offered "advice for green ogres," humorously showcasing Movie Sonic's transformation from his initial, widely criticized live-action design to the much more favorably received revision that was unveiled months later.

IGN provided the first exclusive look at the live-action Sonic the Hedgehog: The Movie back in 2018, which received mixed feedback, particularly regarding the character's teeth, physique, tiny eyes, and human-like fingers.
In response to the backlash, director Jeff Fowler decided to revise the controversial design, promising a more authentic portrayal. The subsequent redesign was much better received by fans and critics alike.
While the feedback on Shrek's new look hasn't been as divisive as Sonic's initial live-action appearance, Sonic's playful response has certainly entertained his fanbase.
"You know it's bad when you see the Sonic Movie account giving Shrek 5 advice," one commenter noted, while another exclaimed, "No way they actually posted this" accompanied by a crying emoji.
Originally announced in 2016, the fifth Shrek movie had been quiet for years until Chris Meledandri, CEO of animation studio Illumination, announced its active development in 2023. Alongside this, there are hopes for a Donkey spin-off. Universal Pictures has shifted Shrek 5's release to December 23, 2026, and placed the Despicable 3 spin-off, Minions 3, in its original slot.
