Silksong Still Coming To Switch 1
Silksong Developer Reaffirms Release For Switch 1
Following Silksong’s quick appearance at the Nintendo Direct for Switch 2 on April 2, fans assumed that the game would skip the current-gen and head straight to the next-gen. Silksong was first announced in 2019 for PC and Switch 1, and then, years later, developer Team Cherry confirmed PlayStation and Xbox console releases.
Team Cherry Marketing and PR Handler Matthew Griffin took to Twitter (X) on April 8 to clarify fans’ concerns regarding the game’s platform release. Griffin reassured fans that Silksong will be available on both the original Switch and the upcoming Switch 2.
While there are no official announcements on how these versions will differ, players can anticipate that the game will benefit from higher resolution and improved features on the Switch 2.
New Silksong Images Revealed
Following the Nintendo Direct for Switch 2, new images for Silksong were unveiled on Nintendo Japan’s official website. Although the locations depicted in these images were previously seen, fans have noted some graphical enhancements since their initial reveal in 2019.
Despite the developers' usual reticence about game details, Silksong’s brief appearance during the Switch 2 Direct and the new images hint that a release date announcement could be on the horizon. Recent changes to Silksong’s Steam Metadata have also fueled fans' hopes for a release this year.
Hollow Knight: Silksong is slated for release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. Based on the Switch 2 Direct, the game is expected to launch sometime this year. To stay updated with the latest news on the game, check out our article below!
