Smite 2's open beta is now live and free-to-play on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC (via Epic Games Store and Steam), and Steam Deck. This launch coincides with a significant content update from Titan Forge Games.
A year in the making, Smite 2, built with Unreal Engine 5, delivers a visually enhanced and mechanically refined MOBA experience compared to its predecessor. The core gameplay remains – 5v5 battles featuring gods from diverse mythologies – but with improvements such as a revamped item shop offering broader item choices regardless of god type.
This open beta introduces Aladdin, a brand-new god designed specifically for Smite 2, boasting unique abilities including wall-running and a three-wish revival mechanic. His ultimate involves trapping opponents in a 1v1 duel using his magic lamp.
The update also includes:
- New Gods: Aladdin, Geb (Egyptian God of Earth), Mulan (Chinese warrior), Agni (Hindu Pantheon), and Ullr (Norse Pantheon).
- Returning Game Mode: The popular 3v3 Joust mode makes a comeback.
- New Map: An Arthurian-themed map.
- Map Updates: Improvements to the Conquest map.
- Game Mode Alpha: An alpha version of the Assault game mode.
- God Aspects: Optional enhancements for select gods.
Titan Forge Games highlights Smite 2's superior performance and gameplay compared to the original, thanking players for their alpha feedback. They've promised ambitious new content for 2025. While currently unavailable on Nintendo Switch due to performance concerns, the developer remains open to a potential release on the Switch 2. Smite fans can download and play the open beta now.
