Sony WH1000XM5 Review by Kevin Lee

"The Sony WH-1000XM5 represents the significant upgrade we've all been waiting for from Sony's flagship wireless headphones. The new design and AI enhance the noise-canceling capabilities, while the ambient listening mode feels wonderfully natural. The audio quality is superb, perfectly suited for everything from intricate classical music to the dynamic soundscapes of action movies."

The Sony XM4 was already a top performer, but the XM5 brings notable enhancements in noise cancellation and comfort. With a second processor and double the number of microphones dedicated to filtering out ambient noise, the XM5 offers superior noise cancellation. The redesigned earcups provide a better fit, improving passive noise isolation. The XM5's noise-canceling performance surpasses not only its predecessor but also most other headphones in its price range.

The Sony WH-1000XM5 boasts a sleeker design with an updated headband adjustment mechanism. The wider band helps distribute weight more evenly, and the luxurious synthetic leather earcup padding enhances comfort, making these headphones ideal for extended wear. One minor downside is that the XM5 can no longer be folded inward, only swiveled, which makes it less compact.

Despite these improvements, the Sony WH-1000XM5 maintains the XM4's impressive battery life, offering over 30 hours on a single charge, even with ANC on. It also supports fast charging via USB Type-C.

At this price point, the XM5 is a steal compared to competitors like the Bose QuietComfort Ultra and the AirPods Max. If you're in the market for premium noise-canceling headphones, this deal is not to be missed.
