The boys are back in town — and by the boys, we mean Stan, Kyle, Kenny, and Cartman. South Park has officially announced the return of Season 27, and it seems our favorite Colorado crew is tackling the current state of affairs in their signature, barely-coping style.
The beloved animated series released an exciting new trailer for the upcoming season, cleverly tricking the audience into thinking they were getting a sneak peek at a new drama. The trailer starts with intense editing and suspenseful music, setting an ominous tone... until Randy, Stan's dad, and his sister Shelley appear on-screen. Randy casually asks Shelley if she's been taking drugs, suggesting, "Because I think it could really help you," as they sit on her bed with a Wicked movie poster in the background.
The trailer then shifts back to intense action, teasing several significant and timely plot points for the season. Expect to see major plane crashes, the Statue of Liberty being toppled, a guest appearance by P. Diddy, and, unsurprisingly for fans, another war with Canada — a recurring theme if you've seen the 1999 film South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut.
The teaser confirms that Season 27 will premiere on July 9, 2025, on Comedy Central, marking over two years since the conclusion of Season 26. In the interim, the series has kept fans engaged with three specials: 2023’s South Park: Joining the Panderverse and South Park (Not Suitable For Children), followed by 2024’s South Park: The End of Obesity.
South Park celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2022, having debuted on Comedy Central to immediate acclaim back in 1997.
