Fans eagerly awaiting the next installment in the Spider-Verse saga might have to temper their excitement, as Jharrel Jerome, star of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, has revealed that work on the highly anticipated Beyond the Spider-Verse has yet to commence. In a conversation with Decider, Jerome expressed his wishfulness for the project to move forward but confirmed that he hasn't even started recording lines for the film. "No, I wish," Jerome remarked, "We haven’t started up yet. A lot of things being figured out, but good things."
Given that the second film in the series, Across the Spider-Verse, was released five years after the original, it's no surprise that the third film might take its time. Fans shouldn't hold their breath for an imminent release, as the production process seems to be in its preliminary stages. Despite the wait, Jerome's comments hint at a promising outcome as details continue to be sorted out.

While Jerome's role in the second film was relatively minor, his character is poised to take center stage in the third installment. Spoiler Alert for Across the Spider-Verse's ending: Jerome portrays Miles G. Morales from Earth-42, a version of Miles who, instead of becoming Spider-Man, takes on the mantle of the Prowler. This alternate Miles had a starkly different life trajectory; the radioactive spider destined to bite him ended up in another reality, biting the protagonist Miles instead. Consequently, Miles G. Morales never gained spider powers, and following the death of his universe's Peter Parker, he embraced the life of a supervillain in a New York overrun by crime.
The narrative clash between this Prowler Miles and the Spider-Man Miles will undoubtedly be a focal point of Beyond the Spider-Verse. However, fans will need to exercise patience, as the film is not expected until at least 2026 according to Deadline, with a potential release in 2028 if it follows the precedent set by the previous film's release schedule.
