Square Enix unveils Kingdom Hearts 4 with screenshots

by Isabella Dec 22,2025

Square Enix has officially reconfirmed Kingdom Hearts 4's ongoing development through a detailed social media post featuring new images, eliminating any uncertainty.

The clarification follows yesterday's announcement about canceling Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link, the GPS-enabled mobile action-RPG, where Square Enix reassured fans they remain fully committed to Kingdom Hearts 4's development.

"Our team is diligently crafting Kingdom Hearts 4 and will continue pouring our passion into its creation. We're committed to delivering an experience that meets your highest expectations!" stated the first post, accompanied by screenshots showcasing character interactions, cinematic glimpses, combat mechanics, platforming sequences, and formidable enemies.

"We've witnessed your tremendous enthusiasm and sincerely appreciate your support," continued the second update. "Our excitement matches yours, and we're eager to reveal more about Kingdom Hearts IV at the appropriate time. Thank you for your patience and ongoing dedication."

This announcement marks the first substantial update since January's brief teaser and the September 2022 cinematic trailer reveal, ending Square Enix's prolonged silence about the project.

Series director Tetsuya Nomura previously indicated Kingdom Hearts 4 would begin steering the 22-year saga, spanning 18 games, toward its final narrative arc.

Regarding Missing-Link's cancellation, Square Enix expressed "sincere apologies to our waiting fans" but explained the decision stemmed from concerns about maintaining long-term service quality.
