Star Wars Outlaws debuted its first story expansion today with the release of the *A Pirate's Fortune* DLC across PlayStation, Xbox, and PC platforms. The highlight of this update? The cunning, charismatic pirate Hondo Ohnaka takes center stage.
Drew Rechner, Creative Director at Ubisoft's Massive Entertainment, revealed that the DLC was inspired by the team's fondness for Hondo Ohnaka - the infamous Weequay pirate previously featured in Star Wars comics and *The Clone Wars* animated series.
"Hondo was always destined to be part of our game because the team adored him. The dynamic between Kay's rogue spirit and Hondo's pirate mischief just clicks perfectly," Rechner explained to IGN. "Plus, watching Kay develop as a leader under Hondo's questionable mentorship creates fascinating storytelling opportunities."
The expansion introduces a fresh adventure featuring the dangerous Rokana Raiders gang and the Miyuki Trade League, who provide ship upgrades for Kay's Trailblazer. Players also gain access to a new Shock blaster ability.
While announcing a Nintendo Switch 2 release coming September 4th, Rechner remained tight-lipped about potential new features. "We'll share more details about the Switch 2 version in due time," he teased.
The Switch 2's unique capabilities like controller-as-mouse functionality and GameChat features could potentially enhance the Outlaws experience - though these details remain speculative for now.
