Stellar Blade's highly anticipated Photo Mode and NieR: Automata DLC update, Patch 1.009, unfortunately introduced several game-breaking glitches. Shift Up, the developers, are working diligently on a hotfix.
Game-Breaking Bugs and the Hotfix
The update caused significant problems for some players. A main quest softlock in an earlier dungeon prevented progress for many, while others experienced crashes using Photo Mode's selfie function. Additionally, some new cosmetic items failed to render correctly.
Shift Up advises against forcing quest progression. Instead, players should await the hotfix to avoid potential permanent softlocks.
NieR: Automata Collaboration and Photo Mode Enhancements
Patch 1.009 delivers the much-requested NieR: Automata collaboration DLC. Eleven exclusive items are available by finding Emil, who has set up shop in the game world. The collaboration, a result of mutual respect between the directors of both games, adds a significant layer to the Stellar Blade experience.
The update also includes the highly anticipated Photo Mode, allowing players to capture stunning images of Eve and her companions. New photo challenges encourage exploration of this feature.
Further improvements include four new outfits for Eve, a new accessory (post-game unlock) altering Tachy Mode's appearance, and a "No Ponytail" option for increased character customization. Six additional languages now have lip-sync support, projectile auto-aim and bullet magnet functions for the instant death skill have been improved, and various minor bug fixes enhance gameplay.
