The highly anticipated sequel to The Super Mario Bros. Movie might have accidentally revealed its title prematurely through an NBCUniversal press release that later got edited.
The internet caught wind when NBCUniversal's upfront presentation materials listed "Super Mario World" among Universal Pictures and Illumination's upcoming films destined for Peacock streaming. Universal quickly revised the document, scrubbing all Mario references shortly after publication.

Interestingly, the original press release lumped together "Super Mario World, Shrek, and Minions" - franchises we know are getting new installments numbered Shrek 5 and Minions 3 respectively. This suggests "Super Mario World" might represent an umbrella term rather than the definitive sequel title.
That said, "Super Mario World" carries more specificity than a generic "Super Mario Bros." sequel title would. The name resonates strongly with fans as it references Nintendo's seminal SNES platformer, making it a plausible candidate for the film's official branding.
